Pedestrian intensive

HARPO PEDESTRIAN INTENSIVE GREEN ROOF SYSTEMS ADHERE TO THE UNI 11235:2015 STANDARD, GUARANTEEING AND EXCEEDING THE MINIMUM CHARACTERISTICS FOR BOTH ALL INDIVIDUAL ELEMENTS AND SYSTEM PERFORMANCE.

IN THIS CASE, THE PEDESTRIAN SYSTEM SERVES THE FOLLOWING FUNCTIONS:

  • ALLOW THE DESIGNER GREAT COMPOSITIONAL FREEDOM IN THE CHOICE OF PEDESTRIAN FINISHES.

  • PROMOTE THE FREE FLOW OF WATER, WHICH CAN FLOW CONTINUOUSLY BELOW THE PEDESTRIAN AREA AND GREEN AREAS THANKS TO THE TECHNICAL SOLUTION OF CONTINUOUS DRAINAGE. THIS GREATLY SIMPLIFIES THE ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF WATERPROOFING.

  • IMPROVE THE USABILITY AND ECONOMIC VALUE OF ROOFS AND TERRACES.

  • CREATE A PEDESTRIAN SURFACE WITH LOW THICKNESS AND WEIGHT, WHERE THE TOTAL THICKNESS OF THE SOLUTION IS IN FUNCTION OF THE FINISHED LEVELS TO BE ACHIEVED.

  • EXTEND WATERPROOFING LIFESPAN.

HARPO CONTINUOUS DRAINAGE FLOORING

Thanks to the continuous drainage solution of the Harpo verdepensile system, any type of pedestrian flooring, whether draining or not, such as a mortar lined flooring on top of a cast-in-place reinforced concrete slab, can be constructed above MediDrain drainage, buildup and aeration panels.

The continuous drainage solution brings with it a whole range of advantages, including:

  • ensure free stormwater runoff
  • simplify and optimize the design
  • ensure the continuity of the waterproofing layer, reducing both the risks of infiltration and the costs associated with waterproofing work
  • opt for any type of finish for paved spaces: wood, stone, self-locking elements, cementitious slam, rubber granule playground finishes, and so on.

Depending on the expected load, the stratigraphy should be suitably verified with the Harpo verdepensile technical department.

WOODEN DRAINING PEDESTRIAN SYSTEM

It is a system used to make passageways on roof gardens with non-walkable vegetation or in proximity of exits, to create relaxing and comfortable areas facing the green.

The excellent drainage and aeration guaranteed by the Harpo system prevent the planking from rotting and ensures excellent preservation.

PEDESTRIAN DRAINAGE SYSTEM IN STONE SLABS

The wide variety of stone finishes or blocks gives the designer great composition and aesthetics freedom. Stability, high compressive strength and frost resistance of Lapillo no-crush ensure excellent preservation and durability of the pedestrian stratigraphy.

DRAINING PEDESTRIAN SYSTEM MADE WITH INERT

The use of inerts is sometimes required for the construction of distribution pedestrian paths within the green areas themselves. Such a finishing element will have to be properly confined, for example within concrete curbs or metal profiles. To ensure continuous drainage of the system, Harpo verdepensile uses a series of drainage accessories of the Harpo PPD or PPD-FLEX type (curvilinear type) adaptable to sinuous and curved paths.

DRAINING PEDESTRIAN SYSTEM WITH GRAVEL REINFORCED WITH Harpo H-GG STRUCTURE

Similar to the previous one but, if intensive use of pedestrian paths is planned, it is suggested to reinforce the structure and stability of the system by retaining gravel within a honeycomb structure.

PEDESTRIAN SYSTEM PAVED WITH STONEWARE OR STONE SLABS LINED ON REINFORCED SLABS CAST IN PLACE

Where tile/stone slab pavings lined with mortar on screed are planned, it is possible to cast directly on the MediDrain drainage, buildup and aeration layer, which will act, in this case, as a disposable formwork. The presence of a dense network of channels present on the underside of the panel, once the casting is done, will ensure the free flow of water underneath.

The paved surface created with this principle will allow free design of both pedestrian and vehicular paths within the green areas, while still ensuring a continuous drainage system over the entire surface. With this type of waterproof finish, it will be most important to convey surface runoff water to storm drains (Harpo verdepensile accessories) or to permeable infiltration areas.
